How to read an in-app purchase list

  • Look at the yearly price, not the monthly one. A monthly price looks small. Multiply it by twelve to compare.
  • Find the trial and the date it ends. A free trial usually converts to a paid plan automatically unless you cancel first.
  • Check which tier you are on. Some apps list several tiers, and the higher ones add coaching, which is a separate service from the tracker.
  • Decide what you actually need. If you only want a day counter and money saved, a free tier may be enough.

To cancel on an iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, choose Subscriptions, pick the subscription and tap Cancel Subscription [5].

Does Reframe work?

This is a common search, and we do not want to guess. We did not find a published trial of Reframe, and the claims on an app’s own website are not independent evidence, so we have not repeated them. What the listing shows is a 4.7 average from about 45,000 ratings [1]. That tells you users broadly like it, not whether it changes how much anyone drinks. For context, the largest trial of any alcohol-reduction app we found tested a different app, UCL’s Drink Less, in 5,602 UK drinkers: one pre-registered analysis found a 2.00-unit greater weekly reduction than the NHS webpage, while the strictest found a non-significant 0.98 units [6]. A 2025 review of 10 trials found app users tended to drink less than controls but called for more evidence [7].

If you want something free

Sober Girl’s day counter, money saved, daily check-in, Craving SOS and tree are free, with Plus adding the journal, mood insights and shareable milestone cards. It is on Android now, with an iPhone version coming soon. For a longer comparison, read our guide to the best sober tracker apps. If you are worried about your drinking, an app is not treatment: the SAMHSA National Helpline (1-800-662-4357) is free, confidential and open 24/7 [8].
